On this page you can find all of my clinical experience including the sites, hours, and responsibilities for each rotation.

Below are the details of each of my clinical rotations broken down by the clinical site 

Medical-Surgical Rotation
80 clinical hours 
190 DEU hours

(1:1 Preceptorship)

Cleveland Clinic 
Hillcrest Hospital 
4 West Tower 
Ortho/Neuro/Trauma 

 

  •  Medication administration and blood transfusions 

  • Interpreted heart rhythm strips to monitor patients on telemetry

  • Interpreted lab results and communicated critical results to providers accordingly 

  •  Performed physical treatments, including urinary catheter insertion, nasogastric tube insertion, and dressing changes      

  • Performed head-to-toe and focused assessments to coordinate effective care 

  • Communicated with the inter-professional team, patient, and family

  • Documented all activities and patient information in EPIC EMR

Pediatric Rotation
45 clinical hours

Cleveland Clinic 
Children Hospital for Rehabilitation
  •  Performed scheduled and PRN care of infants and children 

  • Gained knowledge of tracheostomy care 

  • Assisted with interdisciplinary therapies 

  • Routinely fed, bathed, and changed the children 

  • Communicated with the inter-professional healthcare team

  • Provided family with physical respite, education, and emotional support 

  • Created an in depth care plan as part of the clinical course 

OBGYN Rotation
45 Clinical Hours  

Cleveland Clinic 
Fairview Hospital 
L&D, LDRP, Recovery, and High Risk OB
  • Performed and assisted with perinatal assessment, monitoring, positioning

  • Assisted in the preparation and execution of surgical and vaginal deliveries

  • Carefully monitored postpartum mothers and their newborns during recovery period 

  • Educated new parents on newborn care and safety 

  • Evaluated fetal heart rates and contractions to safely monitor labor progression

  • Performed circumcision care, umbilical cord care, and routine newborn health screenings 

  • Gained valuable experience in pregnancy complications during rotation with high risk OB

Mental Health Rotation
45 Clinical Hours

Cleveland Clinic 
Marymount Hospital 
  • Utilized standardized screening tools in order to evaluate current patient condition

  • Identified key diagnostic characteristics in order to facilitate appropriate treatment

  • Deescalated acute patient crises and appropriately managed conflicts

  • Participated in therapeutic activities and communication with patients

  • Worked to build rapport with patients in order to form a nurse-patient relationships 

Community Health Rotation
45 DEU Hours

Home Health & Nephrology Infusion Center 
  •  Visited patients in their homes to obtain vital signs, assess, and record conditions

  • Administered medications and medical treatments in a non-hospital setting

  • Assessed patients’ safety and socioeconomic needs to connect them with community resources

  • Completed pre-infusion patient education and routine health questionnaires  

  • Intravenous catheter insertion and IV pump setup for infusions 

  • Monitored patients throughout infusion while documenting in EPIC EMR 

Critical Care Rotation 
90 DEU hours 
(1:1 preceptorship)
Cleveland Clinic Main Campus - Neuro ICU
  • Assessment and care of neurologically critical patients on an 18-bed unit 

  • Management of ICP drains, Central lines, Arterial Lines, & use of therapeutic hypothermia

  • Assisted with manual bag ventilation during emergency ventilator set-up

  • Gained valuable experience in treating patients with Covid and Covid complications 

  • Participated in difficult conversations with families regarding care of their loved one 

  • Interpreted critical lab results to determine best course of action 

Practicum

Cleveland Clinic Fairview 
Family Birthing Center 
  • Monitored contractions and fetal heart rates to plan appropriate interventions

  • Carefully tracked blood loss and intervened according to best practice protocol 

  • Titrated medications to facilitate induction of labor and manage pain throughout labor 

  • Advocated for patients’ birth plans and helped to promote natural labor progression 

  • Facilitated alternative methods of pain management such as nitrous oxide

  • Managed the care of mother and baby during recovery period and through postpartum 

  • Educated patients on what to expect with labor, newborn care, and postpartum care

  • Worked as a team alongside physicians and midwives to provide exceptional care 

  • Performed routine newborn assessments, medication administration, and circumcision care 

  • Created a quality improvement project based on informed decision making for new parents
